A Well Detailed Day-wise Itinerary for the Char Dham Yatra by Taxi

Char Dham Yatra is one of the most known pilgrimage places that must have heard and visited by many of us. Day 2: Start of the itinerary from Haridwar to Barkot

From Haridwar to Barkot, there is a 176 km drive that takes around 7 hours of drive. Make a stay at Barkot at night. A large number of pilgrims visit Barkot as it is the connecting place for Yamunotri and Uttarkashi. In Barkot, you can enjoy its natural beauty that will surely attract you. Day 3 Then, Barkot to Yamunotri

There is a 46 km drive from Barkot to Janki Chatti. After this, you will have to walk approximately a 6 km walk to reach the Yamunotri temple. Now, you can come back to the Barkot for a night stay.

Day 4 Again, Barkot to Uttarkashi

From Barkot, your next destination will be Uttarkashi. With 3 hours of drive, you will reach Uttarkashi. There are a number of incredible places to visit in Uttarkashi that will refresh your mind. Right from Viswanath Temple to Gaumukh and Maneri Dam to Jalmanga Shivling, you will find many peaceful places to visit. Day 5 Uttarkashi to Gangotri

For reaching Gangotri, you have to make a drive of 100 km that will take around 6 hours. Gangotri is a town around the Gangotri temple. This temple is one of the holiest places and considered one of the important Dhams. Gangotri is the important temple of river Ganga that is situated at an altitude of 3042 m. It has an amazing aura where all the pilgrims visit so that their prayers can be answered. Ganga River originates from Gaumukh in Gangotri Glacier which is approximately 20 km from the Gangotri town. As per Hindu mythology, Gangotri is the same place where river Ganga moved downward from heaven when the lord Shiva released the Ganga from his hair. Day 6 & 7: Uttarkashi to Guptkashi, Guptkashi to Sonprayag and then to Kedarnath

The next day, you start your trip with a 200 km drive Guptkashi. It will take around 7-8 hours of drive. You are suggested to go for a night stay in Guptkashi. The next day, start your Char Dham yatra by driving 31 km from Guptkashi to Sonprayag. From there, you need to make a 20 km walk or trek to reach Kedarnath.

Kedarnath is undoubtedly a popular pilgrimage destination for Hindus which is also among the Char Dhams. This Dham is situated at an altitude of 3584 m near Chorabari Glacier which is also known as the “head of river Mandakini”. Apart from being a Dham, Kedarnath is also counted amongst the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Thousands of pilgrims visit this place every year for offering prayers. Because of the extreme weather condition of this place, Kedarnath is open only for 6 months that is from April end to November. Day 8: Kedarnath to Rudraprayag

Now, the next day, you need to walk down to Gaurikund to reach Rudraprayag by taxi. This will be a ride of 3 to 4 hours. To start your next Dham yatra, you need to make a night stay in Rudraprayag itself.

Day 9: Rudraprayag to Badrinath

From Rudraprayag, it will take around 155 km to reach the last Dham that is Badrinath. Badrinath Dham is popular because of its Badrinath Temple of Lord Badrinarayan which is known as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Day 10: Badrinath to Haridwar

From there, you can plan your Yatra to Joshimath which 46 km far from Badrinath. From Joshimath, you can leave for Haridwar which will take around 10 hours to reach. Joshimath is one of the important maths that was established by Guru Shankaracharya. One of the main attractions of Joshimath is the Narshimha temple.
